Insurance got more expensive. That doesn’t mean you’re stuck.
Florida homeowners insurance is about more than the premium. Roof age and type, construction, updates, wind mitigation features, replacement cost, deductibles, occupancy and underwriting requirements can all affect the coverage and carrier options available for a home. At S & J Insurance Group, we look at the details behind the property before comparing insurance options — because the lowest quote is not automatically the right fit.

Roof age and type, permits, construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water heater, occupancy and other property characteristics can affect underwriting eligibility. Inspections may also provide important information about the home. Small details can sometimes change which Florida home insurance carriers or options are available, so we review them carefully before assuming one quote tells the whole story.

Two Florida home insurance quotes with different premiums are not necessarily offering the same protection.

Does an independent insurance agency compare multiple homeowners insurance carriers?
As an independent agency, S & J Insurance Group can evaluate available Florida homeowners insurance markets based on the property, underwriting requirements and coverage needs. When multiple options are available, we compare more than price — including coverage differences, deductibles, eligibility and overall fit. The goal is to help you understand the options available for your particular home.
A lot more than the home's address. Roof age and type, construction, updates, wind mitigation features, replacement cost, prior claims, coverage selections and deductibles can all affect pricing and eligibility. Different insurance companies also have different underwriting guidelines, which is one reason we look at the whole property before comparing options.
Not every home or insurance company requires one, but a current wind mitigation inspection can help document features that may qualify for available windstorm credits. We review the inspection along with the home's other underwriting information so we can determine how it may affect your options.
Replacement cost and market value aren't the same thing. Market value considers things like location and land value, while replacement cost estimates what it could cost to rebuild the insured structure using current construction costs and materials. We review replacement cost as part of the quoting process rather than simply using the home's purchase price.
Price matters, but it shouldn't be the only number you compare. Two quotes can have different deductibles, limits, exclusions, endorsements and coverage. We want you to understand those differences before deciding which option makes the most sense for you.
Generally, standard homeowners insurance does not cover flooding caused by rising water. Flood insurance is typically purchased separately through the NFIP or a private flood insurer. We can review flood options alongside your homeowners coverage, even when a lender doesn't require it.
