Slide's UPC Policy Acquisition
If your policy was acquired by Slide, your new Slide insurance policy replaces the remaining term of your current UPC Insurance policy and you will receive information via mail. No action on your part is required. Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible for you.
No. Slide coverage will begin immediately after your cancellation of your UPC policy and will continue to provide coverage through the expiration of your current policy term with substantially similar coverage and premium as the UPC policy.
No action is required by you to maintain coverage other than to continue to pay your premium timely.
No, if you have already paid your premium no action is required. Your unearned premium will transfer to Slide, and your coverage will continue through the expiration of your Slide policy term.
No, Slide will notify your mortgage company and provide all required information. If your mortgage company pays your insurance premium, Slide will send your invoice to your mortgage company for payment.
If you have not paid all of your Slide premium, you must make the remaining payments in order to keep your insurance coverage. If your mortgage company pays your premium, Slide will send the required invoice to your mortgage company. If you pay your premium directly, Slide will send you an invoice in accordance with your new Slide policy. Payment instructions will be listed in your invoice.
No, Slide is only responsible for claims with a date of loss on or after February 1, 2023 and has no information related to your claim with UPC.
No, if you previously filed a claim with UPC you should not file it with Slide as it will result in a claim denial by Slide because your loss predates February 1, 2023.
Our rating agency, Demotech, Inc. has assigned a Financial Stability Rating of A, Exceptional, for Slide.

EXTENSION POLICIES
Slide acquired the renewal rights for these policies, which means they remain with UPC unless a renewal policy is bound. The extension policies are handled differently based on their natural policy expiration date.
JAN, FEB OR MARCH EXPIRATION DATES
These extension policies are eligible to be written through Slide; however your agent will need to quote and bind them in our SLIDE system. Below are answers to some of the commonly asked questions about these policies.
If the natural policy expiration has passed, what should I put as the effective date for quoting?
The effective date can be entered as the current date or a date in the near future. Example: If your policy had a natural expiration of Jan 15, you could bind it as early as today.
If the natural policy expiration is in the future, what should I put as the effective date for quoting?
The effective date can be the natural expiration date or sooner if desired.
Why are DP-3 extension policies on the list if they can't be quoted for new business?
Slide's quoting system is not yet set up to sell DP-3 policies so these will NOT be eligible for new business quoting. DP-3 policies were included in the list because you have the opportunity to quote them as HO-3 policies if they are owner-occupied.
Will the extension policies need to go through underwriting?
Yes. These policies will be reviewed by our underwriting team, but will be subject to fewer underwriting restrictions. To be put into the expedited process, enter UPC as the prior carrier and the correct UPC policy number on the applicant tab in the IPX system. You do not need to indicate the policy is being non-renewed. If this is not entered, the risk will be subject to all new business underwriting rules and restrictions.
Can coverage be backdated?
No. We cannot backdate coverage. If your client needs documentation of coverage, you will need to request it from UPC. Their agent hotline is (800) 295-8016.
How do I submit endorsement requests or policy changes to the UPC policies?
Since Slide does not own or service these policies until they are renewed with Slide, policy changes and endorsements will go through the current UPC process.
